Background/What You Need to Know: The Plan is in response to the Commission’s Decision in the 2022 Demand-Side Management (DSM) Strategic Issues Proceeding Number 22A-0309EG, and other regulatory and statutory requirements. DSM programs refer to energy efficiency programs that help customers reduce their overall energy use through incentives, which can help lower costs. The Plan is also filed to comply with Senate Bill (SB) 21-0246, which directs Public Service to file beneficial electrification plans that incentivize residential, commercial, and industrial customers to implement beneficial electrification projects voluntarily.
The Plan proposes to continue, update, or expand several previously approved products and services, and add new products and services. It also includes new measures for existing products; new or expanded advertising and promotion; expanded DSM programs in the summer and winter seasons and new products for gas and electric customers; leveraging smart meter technology to give customers more insight and control over their energy use; and rebates, tax credits, and other incentives made available by federal programs.
