Colorado’s 2021 Sunrise and Sunset reviews released

DENVER (October 18, 2021) - The Colorado Office of Policy, Research and Regulatory Reform (COPRRR), in the Executive Director’s Office at the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA), released the 2021 sunset and sunrise reports on Friday, October 15. The reports have been sent to the Colorado General Assembly and are now available online at coprrr.colorado.gov.

Biden Administration Announces Approval of Colorado’s Inclusive Health Care Plan to Set Colorado’s Essential Health Benefits

DENVER (October 12, 2021) - Today, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), announced it has approved the Colorado health insurance plan that will set the minimum health care coverage requirements starting in 2023. The plan establishes the essential health benefits (EHBs) within Colorado for individual plans (meaning not from an employer) and small group plans (for small employers with less than 100 employees).

PUC recommends Federal Communications Commission’s Lifeline program supporting low-income consumers’ access to wireless and broadband services

DENVER (September 20, 2021) — The Public Utilities Commission (PUC), part of the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA), recognizes National Lifeline Awareness Week (September 20-24, 2021) and encourages consumers to learn more about whether they qualify for the Federal Communications Commissions (FCC) program. Lifeline provides up to $9.25 per month in support for wireless and broadband services for low-income subscribers, and up to $34.25 per month for those located on Tribal lands.

Biden administration, CMS provides additional funding of nearly $50M for Colorado Reinsurance Program

DENVER (September 7, 2021) - Today, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), part of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), announced that it is providing additional funding to 13 states, including Colorado, in support of Affordable Care Act Section 1332 reinsurance waivers. This additional funding of nearly $50 million for Colorado’s Reinsurance Program is a result of expanded subsidies for people buying health insurance from the individual market (meaning not from an employer) provided under the American Rescue Plan (ARP). 

Division of Insurance Hosting Meetings for Consumers Regarding the Colorado Option

DENVER (August 24, 2021) - The Colorado Division of Insurance is hosting a series of virtual stakeholder meetings designed to address specific stakeholder groups and the concerns of those groups regarding the Colorado Option and the standardized benefit plan being developed. While there are meetings geared towards insurance companies, health care providers and facilities, there are additional meetings geared toward Coloradans outside of the health care industry.
