748 Area Code Coming in 2026 for Northern and Western Colorado

Starting in the first quarter of 2026, telephone customers in the 970 area code overlay region who request new service, an additional line, or to move their service may be assigned the new 748 area code. The 970 overlay region services the Western and Northern portions of Colorado. The current 970 area code is projected to run out of available phone numbers by the first quarter of 2026.

Consumer Advisory: Dec. 6 is Get Covered Colorado Day

Today, December 6, is Get Covered Colorado Day. This day of action is designed to encourage as many Coloradans as possible to get enrolled in 2024 health insurance during the annual Open Enrollment Period for the individual market (for people that don’t get their insurance through an employer).

Consumer Advisory: Division of Insurance Releases HIV Prevention and Treatment Medication Coverage Guide on World AIDS Day

Today, December 1, is World AIDS Day. This annual, global event provides a platform to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, eliminate HIV-related stigma, and honor the lives affected by the epidemic. In the spirit of this event, the Colorado Division of Insurance (DOI), part of the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA), has created a guide on insurance coverage of prescription medications to prevent and treat HIV, a virus that attacks the body's immune system that can lead to AIDS if left untreated.

Consumer Advisory: Division of Insurance recovered $21.5 Million for Coloradans

Last year, the Colorado Division of Insurance (DOI) recovered $21.5 million for Coloradans as a result of complaints filed by consumers, an increase of almost $2 million over the previous year. These recoveries, and details about the complaints, can be found in the DOI’s Annual Complaint and Recoveries Report for FY 2022-23.

Colorado’s 2023 Sunrise and Sunset reviews released

The Colorado Office of Policy, Research and Regulatory Reform (COPRRR), in the Executive Director’s Office at the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA), released the 2023 sunset reports today. The reports have been sent to the Colorado General Assembly and are now available online at coprrr.colorado.gov.

CCRD Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

The Colorado Civil Rights Division (CCRD) celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month. Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and countless contributions of Hispanic Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.  The observance begins in the middle of September to coincide with the national independence days of Belize, Chile, Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico and Nicaragua.
